Course Recommendations for Montgomery College

Hello, I'm soon starting my journey at Montgomery College and want to have a well-prepared plan. Can any current or former students recommend what they found to be the easiest classes? Really appreciate any insights!

While your desire to find some easier classes is understandable, especially as you're starting college and might want a lighter start, it's really important to align your class selection with your ultimate academic and career goals too. Easiness of a class can be very subjective and depends on your personal interests, strengths, and the specific professor. My advice would be to choose classes that contribute to your chosen major or open up a field of interest for you, while also fulfilling general education requirements.

Having said that, one course that generally receives positive feedback from students is COMM108 - Introduction to Human Communication. This course tends to be more discussion-based, which can be a nice change of pace from lecture heavy courses.

On the math side, Math 117 - Elements of Statistics is commonly seen as more approachable and useful than other more abstract math courses. This class might be especially useful if your future career might involve data analysis or interpretation.

In Humanities, a lot of students have said good things about ARTH101 - Art Appreciation, which is largely seen as an interesting and fun class.

Lastly, don't forget to consider professor ratings when choosing your classes. The same class can be quite different with different professors. Sites like Ratemyprofessors can give you some insight into student experiences with particular instructors.

Also, make good use of academic advisors at your college - they are there for exactly this purpose and know the ins and outs of the curriculum and classes. You might find some hidden gems in the course catalogue through them!

Remember, college is ultimately about learning and growing. Selecting just 'easy' classes might get you a high GPA, but might also prevent you from exploring new arenas and challenging yourself. Balancing your schedule with a mix of courses that are challenging, fun, and fulfilling general education requirements is an approach many successful students use. Good luck at Montgomery College!
