Does anyone know if accelerated courses show up differently on the Common App?

Quick question about accelerated courses—when I'm entering my courses on the Common App, do accelerated classes need to be marked in a special way or will my transcript make that clear? I want to make sure colleges know I challenged myself, so any advice would be appreciated!

Hello there! Glad you're taking the time to accurately report your academic rigor on the Common App. The Common Application has designated sections where you can select the course level, such as 'Regular,' 'Honors,' 'AP,' 'IB,' or 'Dual Enrollment,' among others. If your accelerated courses fall under one of these categories, be sure to mark them appropriately.

Additionally, if your high school has a unique designation for accelerated courses and they don't quite fit into the Common App's preset categories, you can mention this in the 'Additional Information' section or ensure that your counselor notes it on your school profile or in their recommendation letter.

However, your transcript will also play a vital role in showing the level of challenge you've taken on, as it will list the specific courses you completed and the level of rigor marked by your school. Rest assured, admissions officers will consider the context provided by your school's documentation along with what you enter in the App.
