Seeking advice on the easiest freshman classes at City College

Incoming freshman to City College here and feeling a bit nervous. Within the first year, does anyone have advice on which general education classes are considered the 'easiest' to take? Your input would help take off some of the stress, thanks!

Hello there! First, it's normal to feel a bit nervous, but don't worry, you've got this! Now, discussing the 'easiest' classes can be subjective since every student has different strengths, but here are a few courses at City College that most find relatively manageable:

1. Introduction to Sociology: To get the social science GE out of the way, many first-year students opt for this one. The content is engaging, and it typically only requires keeping up with readings and a couple of papers.

2. Intro to Communication Studies: Another classic among first-year students, it's usually more discussion-based and hands-on. This helps you develop public speaking skills, which is a boon for many.

3. Introduction to Psychology: Another crowd favorite, this course offers a broad overview of the psychology field. You'll find this class doable if you're good at memorizing concepts and enjoy learning about human behavior.

4. Intro to Environmental Studies: If you're more inclined towards hard sciences or sustainability issues, you might find this one more accessible. It’s not too math-intensive.

While I listed these classes, remember, academics are not the only important factor for adjustment to college life. Try to strike a balance in your schedule considering extracurriculars and your own self-care. You might also consider electives that align with your interests or future major, which could feel less strenuous given the inherent interest. Reach out to your academic advisor and fellow students once you get there - they can offer personalized advice based on your strengths and interests. Best of luck - you’ll do great!
