How does recruitment for Space Force military branch work?

Hi all, I've been thinking about my post-high school options and the Space Force has sparked my interest—the potential of participating in space-related missions sounds exciting! I'd appreciate it if someone could shed light on the recruitment process for the Space Force. What are the eligibility conditions and the entire enlistment journey like? Thanks in advance!

The recruitment process for the Space Force is similar to that of other military branches. As a first step, you would typically enlist, though you also have the option of entering via a commissioning program like ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) or a service academy if you're interested in becoming an officer.

To enlist, you must meet several eligibility conditions. Firstly, you need to be a U.S citizen and be between the ages of 17 and 42. If you're under 18, you'll require parental consent. Additionally, you need to have a high school diploma (a GED may be acceptable in some cases). Other general requirements include passing the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) with a minimum score that varies by career field, and successfully getting through a medical examination to ensure you're physically fit for the role.

After meeting these basic requirements, you would go to a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) for testing and medical screening. Then, you will choose your career field. However, specific career fields related to the space-oriented work of the Space Force may have further educational and competency requirements due to their high-tech nature.

Once the recruitment process is completed, you'll have to go through Basic Military Training just as recruits in any other branch would. After that, you'll need to attend technical training related specifically to your chosen career field within the Space Force.

As the Space Force is still in its early stages, it'll be beneficial to keep up with updates on its recruiting and training procedures because things might change as the branch continues to evolve.

Remember, joining the military is a substantial commitment so ensure you've considered all aspects before deciding. Working towards protecting U.S. and allied interests in space is indeed exciting, but it also involves immense responsibility and diligent work.
