Hi guys, I'm a bit stressed because my go-to calculator for math classes has been the TI-30X IIS. I'm prepping for the upcoming PSAT and I'm not sure if this calculator is allowed. Does anyone know if it's permissible to use during the test? Wouldn't want to show up on test day and get a nasty surprise.
Hey there! I can understand why you'd want to be certain about the calculator policy for the PSAT – it's always better to be prepared. Good news: the TI-30X IIS is definitely allowed on the PSAT. The College Board, which administers the PSAT, permits most graphing calculators, all scientific calculators, and all four-function calculators (though those aren’t recommended). The TI-30X IIS is a scientific calculator, so you’re in the clear. Just make sure it’s in good working order and you have fresh batteries in it since calculators cannot be shared. And it's always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the calculator's functions if you haven’t used it in a while. Taking the PSAT with a calculator you're comfortable with can really smooth the testing experience. Best of luck on your PSAT!
