What processes are carried out by different military branches on Veterans Day?

Just being a bit curious here, and I'd appreciate if someone could explain what each branch of the military does during events such as Veterans Day. Do they all have similar traditions? Thanks in advance.

Veterans Day, observed on November 11th each year, is a national holiday to honor military veterans, who are persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. It's important to note that the day is marked by a number of commemorations, ceremonies, and public displays of appreciation, many of which involve the various branches of the military. While each branch may celebrate in similar ways, there are unique traditions associated with each.

For context, the United States Armed Forces consists of six branches: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and the Space Force.

The Army, being the oldest branch, participates in numerous parades across the country with military bands and ceremonial units. Marches and reunions of army veterans are also common.

The Marine Corps, due to its tradition of being "the first to fight," is known for hosting the Marine Corps Marathon every year around Veterans Day. It's the largest marathon that doesn't offer prize money, reflecting the nature of the corps in their service and duty before self.

The Navy celebrates with Fleet Week in major cities, allowing the public to tour ships and see presentations, which helps promote understanding of the Navy's role.

Veterans Day is particularly significant for the Air Force since it closely follows the Air Force's birthday (September 18). Celebrations usually include air shows and demonstrations, providing an opportunity for the community to interact with service members and learn about modern military aviation.

The Coast Guard often involves itself in local celebrations in coastal communities. Being a maritime force, they also host events like open houses and tours of their life-saving equipment and facilities.

Lastly, the Space Force, being the newest branch of the military, is still establishing its traditions. Opportunities exist for them to participate in events at the national level, especially to increase the public’s understanding of their mission.

While involvement does vary, a common theme across each service is their outreach to veterans and the public. It's a time for each branch to engage with the communities they serve, remember the sacrifices made, and honor the men and women who have served in the US military.
