Safest Branch of Military?

Hey, everyone. I'm considering joining the military after high school, but I'm kind of scared about the danger aspect. Does anyone know which branch is considered the 'safest'?

The perception of safety can vary greatly depending on one's role and deployment within any branch of the military. However, statistically speaking, the U.S. Air Force has the lowest rate of casualties compared to other branches. The Air Force typically engages in operations from a distance which might help to mitigate certain risks of physical harm.

On the other hand, the U.S. Space Force, which is the newest branch of the military, primarily conducts operations from secure locations on the ground. It's worth noting that the U.S. Coast Guard, while not typically thought of as a traditional military branch, has more of a domestic focus and its primary objectives relate to maritime safety, security, and stewardship which may also appear "safer" to some.

However, safety is a multidimensional concept. You could also consider factors such as training safety, day-to-day operations, and non-combat-related operations that vary across branches.

Lastly, while safety is an important consideration, it's also necessary to look at other factors such as your interests, skills, career goals, and the individual roles within each branch. Everything from medical roles to intelligence to logistical support has its unique risks and rewards. You should really consider your strengths, interests, and long-term goals before making a decision.
