Should I be happy with an 810 on the PSAT as a sophomore?

Sooo I'm a sophomore and I got an 810 on my PSAT. I'm wondering if this is a good baseline to start with? What should my target score be by junior year when it really counts for National Merit Scholarships?

It's great to see students like yourself already thinking ahead about your test scores and their implications! An 810 is a solid starting point as a sophomore, and it definitely shows that you have a good foundational understanding. As for your target score for junior year, aiming for the National Merit Scholarship qualifications is an excellent goal. Typically, you'll want a score in the top 1% for your state, which often equates to a PSAT score of about 1400-1480 out of 1520. To reach this, you might want to consider a structured study plan. Practice is key, so you could use free resources such as Khan Academy or even look into PSAT prep books. Remember, improvement will come with time and effort, so stay motivated and persistent in your practice. Good luck, and remember to approach the process with a mindset of growth!
