Easiest major to get into at Texas A&M?

I'm planning on applying to Texas A&M, but I'm not sure still what major I want to pursue. Does anyone know which major typically has the highest acceptance rate? Just trying to get my chances up!

It's important to note that acceptance rates by major can vary largely, and data on this specific topic isn't always made publicly available by universities. However, Texas A&M University has more than 130 undergraduate degree programs, and sure, some may be less competitive than others.

Traditionally, disciplines such as agricultural sciences and human sciences can be less competitive due to less overall student interest in these subjects areas compared to other popular fields like engineering or business. However, these disciplines are still academically rigorous and require a genuine interest in the field to succeed.

Also, it's not always advantageous to try and "game" the application process by applying to an easier major with the intention of switching once admitted, because internal transfers may also be competitive and there's always the risk that the transfer into your desired program might not be approved.

What would be more beneficial, is to look at different programs at Texas A&M that genuinely interest you and align with your long-term career and academic goals. Then, consider how to make your application stronger - whether it be through your essays, extracurricular activities, demonstrating interest, or other parts of the application.

Getting a good grasp on the prerequisites for your desired program and keeping your grades up in those relevant subjects will give you an edge. For instance, if you're interested in a STEM program, strong grades in your high school math and science courses will be a plus. If you're leaning more towards humanities, a solid background in subjects such as English and social sciences can be beneficial.

Remember, while the competitiveness of a program is a consideration, ultimately, your choice of major should be based on your interests and career goals rather than the perceived difficulty of getting accepted into the program. Aim to be a well-rounded, genuine applicant, and the rest should fall into place!
