Looking for advice on an easy Government class in college

Hi everyone! Junior here, thinking about my future schedule in college and pondering over options. As I might have to take a Government class, could anyone suggest particular ones that won't be too overwhelming?

Sure, I can definitely provide some general advice when it comes to selecting a government class. Although keep in mind that the type and difficulty of classes will vary greatly depending on your college's course catalog and the professors teaching them.

First off, an introductory course on American Government or Comparative Politics tends to be broadly framed with an overview of basic concepts and less emphasis on specific topics. These are often favored by students not majoring in Political Science. They usually cover a wider set of subjects but with less depth, making them seem less overwhelming for somebody new to the study of government.

Secondly, you might want to consider a class that aligns with your personal interests. For instance, if you enjoy understanding social issues, a class on social policy might be less overwhelming because of your existing interest.

Also, check out the syllabuses if they are available on your University's student portal. Look at the class structure, number of assignments, exams and the type of classroom engagement that is expected.

Lastly, ask upperclassmen or your advisor about the reputation of the professor. Sometimes, the professor can greatly impact the level of difficulty in the course. One professor’s teaching style could be more compatible with your learning style than another, making the course seeming easier for you.

But do remember, 'easy' is relative. What one student finds simple, another might find challenging. It would half depend on the subject matter and half on your interest and willingness to engage with it. Good luck with your scheduling!
