Military boot camps: seeking info on duration across different branches

Hello, I'm wanting to know - out of curiosity and future planning - which branch of the military has the longest basic training (boot camp)? By knowing this, I think I can better prepare myself mentally and physically for the challenge.

Let's break the basic training durations down by the six branches of the U.S. military:

1. Army: Basic Combat Training (BCT) lasts about 10 weeks.

2. Navy: Recruit Training, or "boot camp," lasts approximately 8 weeks.

3. Air Force: Basic Military Training (BMT) is approximately 8.5 weeks in duration.

4. Marine Corps: Basic Training, often known as “boot camp,” lasts 12 weeks.

5. Coast Guard: Basic Training lasts approximately 8 weeks.

6. Space Force: Currently, as the newest branch of the military, Space Force candidates attend the same BMT as the Air Force, which lasts about 8.5 weeks.

That said, remember that basic training is just the first step. It’s followed by advanced individual training (AIT), where you will learn the skills for your specific Military Occupation Specialty (MOS), and this can range from a few weeks to a year or more. For example, the Army's Infantry MOS training is about 14 weeks, on top of the 10 weeks of BCT.

Also keep in mind that preparing for basic training requires not just time consideration, but also physical conditioning and mental preparation. Engaging in regular cardiovascular exercise and strength training can be a great way to prepare yourself physically. Meanwhile, understanding military culture, chain of command, and general orders can help prepare you mentally.
