Easiest Cambridge College for Engineering Admission?

Hello! I'm applying for the Engineering program at Cambridge. Any insights on which college might have a higher acceptance rate for engineering students? I know I should consider more than just ease of entry, but it's a start!

Hello! It's great that you're excited about applying to Cambridge for Engineering. While Cambridge is certainly one of the most competitive universities globally, keep in mind that the competition is more about the university itself, rather than individual colleges. The admissions rates across colleges are more balanced than you might think, as the university employs an intercollegiate pooling system. This system ensures that applicants are compared with each other across colleges, and colleges with fewer applicants may "take from the pool" candidates not offered a place at their first choice college. This helps maintain a balance of academic excellence across all colleges.

From an Engineering perspective, all colleges are equally equipped to offer you a great education. The courses and examinations are organized and conducted at the university level, and all the colleges follow the same pattern of study. Colleges primarily provide accommodation, pastoral care, and supplementary teaching (knowns as supervisions).

However, there are a few colleges that have larger engineering intakes and thus can offer a larger community of engineering students. Colleges such as Churchill, Fitzwilliam and Jesus traditionally admit a larger number of Engineering students, but this might not necessarily translate to higher acceptance rates as they might also get more applications.

The college atmosphere, student life, resources, accommodation, and location are also important. It can be helpful to visit the college or at least do a virtual tour to gauge these factors.

In summary, there's no one 'easiest' college for getting in. It might be more helpful to focus on finding a college where you feel you'd be happiest, as this can greatly enhance your overall experience at Cambridge. Good luck with your application!
