Any suggestions for easy English classes in college?

Hey! As part of my degree requirement, I have to take an English class. To manage my course load, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a relatively lighter English class I could take that is still insightful.

If you're looking for a less intensive yet engaging English course, you have a few different avenues to consider.

1. Introductory Literature Classes: These are often broad and thematic, covering a wide range of works rather than going deep into any one text. A class like "Introduction to American Literature" might expose you to a variety of short stories, poems, and plays, rather than focusing intensely on a few novels.

2. Contemporary Literature: This type of class tends to be quite accessible because the texts are modern and the themes are relatable. They typically involve reading and discussing novels and stories from the 21st century. Some classes might focus on popular genres like Young Adult or Science Fiction, which can be fun and engaging.

3. Creative Writing: Creative writing classes often involve writing and critiquing short stories or poetry, which can be less reading-intensive than other literature classes. They can be a great way to explore your own creative potential while also learning about the structure and style of writing.

To ensure that you're choosing a lighter course, it's often a good idea to check the syllabus beforehand and look at the number of readings or assignments. Speaking to classmates or checking professor and course ratings can also help give you a sense of the workload.

Don't forget to find a balance though! While managing your course load is important, it's also valuable to learn and grow in the subject matter. You might even surprise yourself and find a new passion in the process!
