Easiest College to Get Into within UC Davis?

Hi there! I'm doing my college research and UC Davis is pretty high on my list. However, I know that individual colleges within the university can vary in how competitive they are. Has anyone compiled a list or data on which schools within UC Davis are generally considered easier to get into? Thanks for any insights!

Hello! UC Davis, as a whole, doesn't exactly operate with a system where you apply to specific "colleges" within the university, like you might see at a university such as Cornell, for example. At UC Davis, you apply to the university overall, but you do declare your intended major when you apply.

However, it's important to understand that competitiveness can vary depending on the major you choose. Some majors, like Biological Sciences or Computer Science, tend to be more competitive due to high demand. On the other hand, majors like Textiles and Clothing, or Comparative Literature might not be as competitive.

Yet the concept of "easier to get into" can be a bit misleading. It's crucial to choose a major that aligns with your interests and long-term goals -- not just because it might be less competitive. The admissions officers value authenticity and genuine interest in the major you're applying to, so keep this in mind as you finalize your application.

One more thing to keep in mind is that being undecided is equally acceptable. Many students enter their freshman year of college unsure of what they want to major in, and that's perfectly fine. UC Davis, like most universities, offers academic advisors to help guide you in your decision once you're enrolled.

Remember, your choice of major doesn't guarantee admission – your grades, test scores (if you choose to submit them), extracurricular activities, essays, and other factors are all part of the admission decision. Keep working on your application and best of luck!
