What are the easiest classes to take at Northeastern University?

I'm a junior in high school and I'm trying to map out my potential college life. Being aware of the workload in college is important to me, particularly for my first semester as I adjust to a new environment. Northeastern University is one of the colleges I'm considering. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew right off the bat, so I was wondering if anyone knew which are the easiest classes at Northeastern? I'm not trying to take the easy way out, just striving to find a balance. Any advice would be appreciated!

While it's definitely a great idea to seek balance during your first semester, I also encourage you not to focus too much on trying to find "easy" classes. The point of college is to broaden your perspectives and learn new things. That being said, some classes at Northeastern are known to be well-taught and engaging without being overly demanding. It's also worth noting that what may seem easy can be dependent on what you're interested in and your personal strengths.

One class often mentioned by students is "MUSC 1101 - Music in Everyday Life". It's known for being a general education requirement that's also enjoyable and less demanding. It introduces students to the basics of music and different music genres.

In the field of psychology, "PSYC 1101 - Foundations in Psychology" is reported to be straightforward and interesting, involving a lot of surveys and discussions about human behavior.

A popular and accessible class for many is "SOCL 1101 - Introduction to Sociology". This course is about understanding how human behavior is shaped by societal structures and it might offer you a new perspective on the world around you.

"MSCR 1220 - Media, Culture, and Society" in the Media and Screen Studies department is another option. It's a fun class where you watch and analyze various films and it counts as an elective for many majors.

It's always best to read course descriptions, prerequisites, and professor reviews, as difficulty can vary greatly. As you adjust to college life and your new schedule, remember to balance your course load with extracurricular activities, down-time, and socializing. Every student's transition to college is unique, but seeking balance—like you're doing—is a fantastic strategy. Best of luck with your college planning!
