What's the Easiest Major to Take at Northwestern University?

Hi, I've always dreamed about going to Northwestern but I'm a little uncertain about what I want to major in. What are your thoughts on the easiest major at Northwestern University?

Choosing a major should ideally be about aligning your studies with your interests and career goals, not necessarily about what might be easiest. However, I understand where you're coming from. Do remember, though, that what may seem 'easy' for one student, might be difficult for another. This typically depends on an individual's strengths, academic background, and interests.

At Northwestern, many students find Communication Studies or Sociology in the School of Communication and Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences respectively to be less intensive in terms of workload. These majors allow for a diverse range of class choices which means you can tailor your schedule based on what interests you and what you find less challenging.

Communications Studies, for instance, isn’t as rigid in terms of course requirements compared to other degrees, and it provides a mix of creative and analytical skills. Sociology also offers a flexibility and breadth in coursework, from cultural sociology to criminology, which might be appealing to some students.

Keep in mind that even within perceived 'easy' majors, there will still be rigorous courses and professors with high expectations. Northwestern University in general is known for having challenging and demanding academic programs.

Rather than seeking the 'easiest' path, I would advise that you take some time to investigate your interests. Availability of academic support and resources, such as tutoring and advising, can also help ease any challenges you might encounter in your chosen major. Discussing your interests with an academic advisor could be a great first step. They can help you determine what majors align with both your academic strengths and your future career goals.
