Easiest Major To Get Into At University Of South Carolina

Does anyone know if there's a major at the University of South Carolina that's typically easier to gain admission with? Very open to what path I take, so all suggestions are welcome!

It's important to note that choosing an "easier" major with the sole objective of getting admitted could backfire. Students should primarily consider their interests and career paths, and choose a program that aligns with both, whilst meeting the academic requisites.

That said, when it comes to the University of South Carolina (USC), it is generally known for its internationally accredited business school - The Darla Moore School of Business, as well as strong programs in areas such as Engineering and Nursing. These are therefore considered highly competitive.

On the contrary, the College of Arts and Sciences at USC, which houses disciplines like English, History, Psychology, may be perceived as less competitive. This doesn't necessarily mean they're "easier" to get into, but sometimes these majors receive less applications than the more high-profile programs, making the admission statistics appear favorable.

Remember, while a certain major might have a higher admit rate, this only means that a larger percentage of applicants for that major were admitted, not that the major is easier to get into. The quality of applicants for each major varies. Moreover, college students frequently change their majors — according to National Center for Education Statistics, about 30% of undergraduates in associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs change their major at least once within three years of initial enrollment. Therefore, simply picking a major because it might be "easier" for admissions purposes might result in needing to change your major later on, once you figure out your genuine interests.

Lastly, at many universities, students are admitted to the university as a whole, not to a specific major (although this varies). If USC follows this model, your choice of intended major may not affect your admissions chances at all. I'd recommend looking into this to ensure that your decisions are based on accurate information.

In conclusion, your choice of major should reflect what you are genuinely interested in studying and not exclusively admission chances. Indeed, showing genuine interest in your field may actually improve your admissions chances, as many colleges notice when students are genuinely excited about their field of study.
