The Path of Less Resistance at University of Houston

Hello all. So, I've been considering University of Houston for my Bachelor's and I'm pretty sure that I want to go into the IT field. But, I'm nervous about the workload. Can anyone tell me which IT-related degree at UH is the most straightforward or the easiest to handle?

From the perspective of a college admissions counselor, I think it's essential to stress that what's "easy" or "straightforward" depends entirely on the individual student and their capabilities or interests. If you are naturally inclined towards more technical aspects, you may find that Computer Science or Information Systems Technology come more easily to you, with less struggle. However, if your interests lie more along the lines of project management, then perhaps Management Information Systems may be a smoother path.

University of Houston offers a variety of IT-related degrees such as Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, Computer Information Systems, and Technology Leadership and Innovation Management. Each program has its own strengths and areas of focus. For example, a Computer Science degree program will normally involve more coding and algorithmic problem-solving, whereas an Information Systems Technology degree will focus more on the strategic use of technology in business environments.

Again, what may seem easy or manageable to one student may be challenging to another. My advice would be to thoroughly research each program and where its graduates end up. Always take into account your long-term career goals and which program best aligns with them, regardless of the difficulty.

Lastly, you might wish to speak directly to an academic advisor at UH or current students in these programs. They can offer you firsthand insight into the workload and practicalities of each degree track.
