What classes are a bit easier at University of South Carolina?

Hey, fellow students! I got accepted into University of South Carolina and I'm already thinking about planning my classes. Do any alumni or current USC students have suggestions for classes that are easier or less challenging? As a first year, I want to make sure I have a manageable workload.

Hello! As you prepare to transition to college, ensuring you have a balanced workload is definitely important, especially in your first year. Keep in mind, the difficulty of a course can vary greatly depending on factors like the field of study, the professor, your background knowledge, and your personal interests and abilities.

However, there are a few general education courses at the University of South Carolina that have earned a bit of a reputation for being somewhat less demanding. "Introduction to Public Speaking" (SPCH 140) is often cited as a class that many students find manageable and useful for building effective communication skills.

For a science credit, consider "The Ocean and Man" (MAR 101). It's often suggested as a less complex science option and you will learn about the world's oceans and its relationship with human society. Similarly, "Introduction to Environmental Health" (ENHS 201) provides an engaging perspective on environmental health issues without high-level science prerequisites.

Remember though, what might seem 'easy' or 'less challenging' for someone else might not feel that same way for you. I encourage you to speak with your academic advisor once you enroll to help select courses that not only fulfill requirements, but also align with your interests, abilities, and academic goals. It's key to maintain balance between challenging and lighter courses. Good luck at USC!
