Easy Course Suggestions for first semester at Boston University?

Hey friends! I'm a high school junior considering Boston University for my undergraduate studies. I've heard much about the rigorous curriculum and the need to adapt quickly. To make my transition smoother, I'm thinking about enrolling in a relatively less challenging course in my first semester. Any current students or alumni who can suggest some of the 'easier' classes at Boston University? I'm merely looking for suggestions to balance my courseload, not an effortless A. Thanks in advance!

At Boston University, it's key to consider the type and breadth of the courses along with your major interest. However, remember while a course might be 'easier' for someone due to their interests and skill sets, it might not be the case for everyone.

That said, some courses tend to be well-received due to their engaging content and relatively less strenuous workload.

1. CAS PS101: Introduction to Psychology. This is a popular general education course. The material is interesting and usually not too demanding as long as you keep up with the readings.

2. COM FT 201: Understand Film. If you're interested in movies, this class could be a fun way to fulfill a requirement.

3. CAS SO 100: Principles of Sociology. The concepts are usually not too difficult to grasp, and they can also be quite insightful and applicable to everyday life.

4. CAS AH 111: Art of Ancient World. This class has both lecture and discussion sections. The material can be interesting if you're into art or history.

5. CAS XL 222: Masterpieces of World Literature. The reading list includes big names like Dante, Voltaire, Marx, and Freud. It's basically a survey course, so you don't need prior knowledge about those authors.

This is just a jumping-off point -- remember to consult with your academic advisor before finalizing your course list. They will have valuable insights about how to balance the difficulty level and rigor of your courses within your desired major.
