Are certain majors easier to get admitted to at Hunter College?

I've been looking into Hunter College and I'm wondering about the different difficulty levels when applying to different majors, or whether it doesn't actually matter. Does anyone have reliable information on this?

Hunter College, like many institutions, does not require you to declare your major until end of your sophomore year. This means that all applicants, regardless of intended major, are reviewed under the same criteria during the admission process. As such, your chosen major will not impact your chances of admission.

However, once you're enrolled at Hunter and attempt to declare certain majors, you might find that some have additional requirements or prerequisites. These requirements may include specific coursework, a minimum GPA, or even a supplementary application. So while your intended major doesn't affect your odds of getting into Hunter, it can impact your ability to study specific subjects once you're there.

What's essential is to present a strong application overall - good grades, strong test scores (if you choose to submit them), and meaningful extracurricular activities will all contribute to a compelling application.

Remember that having a clear idea of what you want to study and demonstrating that focus in your application can be beneficial. It shows that you're motivated and have a clear academic direction, even if not all programs are considered equally difficult to get into.
