Easier Bio Classes at University of Washington

Hello there! I'm a rising junior thinking about taking biology in college. I heard the University of Washington has a great program. Do you guys know which Bio classes there are less tough and can be a good starting point?

Sure, I can definitely provide some information on that. Starting with introductory classes is generally the best way to ease into the biology discipline. At the University of Washington, BIOL 100 (Introductory Biology) is typically the first class in the Biology series, and it covers the basics of ecology, evolution, and cellular biology. However, it's still a rigorous course, so be prepared for a challenge even though it's introductory.

For students looking for a less demanding class, you might want to consider BIOL 103 (Sex, Death, and Evolution) and BIOL 120 (Current Controversies in Biology). They are designed for non-biology majors but provide a good background in biology.

BIOL 118 (Survey of Physiology) and BIOL 108 (Evolution and Human Behavior ) are some additional classes that can provide a broad background and are not as intensive as the main series.

But remember, the work you put into any class is what you'll get out of it, so even "easier" classes can still be meaningful and challenging! Dive in with a curious mind and don't hesitate to leverage resources like professors' office hours or tutoring, which can make a significant difference in your understanding and performance. Good luck!
