In your experience, what are the easiest classes at American Public University?

Hey there! I'm a high school junior and I've been looking at different university programs, including online options like American Public University. I hear college can be a massive leap from high school, so I'm thinking of easing my transition with a less demanding class during my first semester. Do any of you have experience with 'easy' classes at APU? I'm aiming for a lighter load to start off, not necessarily an easy A. Thanks for your input!

Navigating your first semester of college can indeed be intimidating. In general, introductory classes or "101" courses often aim to provide a broad overview of a subject and may be less intense than some of the higher-level courses. However, the term "easy" can mean different things to different people. It largely depends on your interest in and aptitude for the subject. For example, if you're a person who loves history, you might naturally find a foundational history class enjoyable and less strenuous.

At American Public University, the class format also determines its difficulty. Courses that don't require prerequisites may be safer bets for your first semester. Such classes might include "English Composition I" or "Introduction to Humanities." These classes emphasize skill development that will serve you well in other classes, such as written communication and critical analysis.

In the realm of social sciences, classes like "Introduction to Sociology" or "Introduction to Psychology” can be engaging and straightforward for students new to these fields. If your program has space for electives early on, consider classes from a variety of subjects to not only lighten your immediate study burden but also to expose you to potential majors or minors you haven't considered yet.

Ultimately, the key to navigating the transition to college academics, whether in-person or online, is a balanced course load and making use of the resources available to you, such as tutoring centers and office hours with professors. Keep in mind that while some classes may seem more relaxed, each course will require time and effort to achieve the outcomes you desire, so plan your study schedule accordingly!
