Soon to be BU student here! Does anyone have any advice on some of the easier courses that don't require papers? I'd love to have a lighter load in a few classes, if I can.
As a current college student, I know that these kinds of "breather" classes can be a real lifesaver in a heavy semester. At Boston University, some courses are known for being quite manageable and not requiring extensive written work.
1. CAS AN 102 - Cultural Anthropology: This course offers an interesting look into various cultures around the world. There are few assignments outside of readings, quizzes and exams here.
2. CAS HI 175 - History of Boston: Written work is fairly minimal, with a few short response assignments and exams instead of essays or research papers.
3. CAS AR 101 - Introduction to Archaeology: This course is less writing-intensive – instead, you'll find multiple-choice exams with a few short answer questions.
4. CAS PY 105 - Physics for the Life Sciences I: If you're a science-oriented student, physical science classes like this one may have less written work.
Remember, course content can change based on the professor, and it's also important to consider that you should try to take courses that align with your interests. The classes you enjoy will likely be the ones you find "easier". Lastly, you can consider exploring pass/fail options for some of these lighter courses, to make your course load more manageable.
Always remember to check the syllabus and speak with the professor or current students before finalizing your classes, to get a good sense of the workload.
