Courses in Kenyan Universities

Hey everyone. So, I'm seriously looking at studying in Kenya for my undergraduate degree but I'm a bit scared about the challenge. Can anyone tell me which courses or majors are usually considered less intense in Kenyan universities?

Certainly, as someone with knowledge about global higher education, I can share that the intensity of courses in Kenyan universities tends to be relatively similar to those of universities in other countries in that it heavily depends on a myriad of factors including your chosen area of study, how you interact with your coursework, your individual learning style, and your level of preparedness and aptitude in the given subject matter. It's important to remember that a course that one student finds straightforward can feel overwhelming to another, and vice versa.

Nevertheless, some fields of studies considered comparatively "less intense" by most students typically include fields in the Social Sciences and the Humanities such as Sociology, Education and Literature, in comparison to STEM fields such as Engineering, Medicine, and Computer Science. This is due to the fact that the latter often requires a greater workload in terms of laboratory or field works, complex theoretical content with mathematical foundations, and typically more rigorous grading standards. This doesn't mean that the Humanities and Social Sciences are easy, but they might not be as demanding in terms of time and specific skill sets.

However, it's essential to choose a major based on your interests, aspirations, and talents rather than perceived difficulty level. Studying what you love or what you're naturally good at will typically make your work feel less intense even if it requires a lot of time and effort. Plus, the reward you'll get from pursuing something that genuinely interests you far outweighs the temporary comfort of an 'easy' course.

Best of luck as you explore your options in Kenyan universities!
