Looking for Less Competitive Universities in NY

Hey folks, I am currently a rising junior and a New Yorker. For certain reasons, I want to stay in state for college. Do you guys know of any universities in New York that are easier to get into? Appreciate the help!

Hi there, sure I'd be happy to provide some suggestions! Not all colleges and universities in New York are as highly selective as, say, Columbia or Cornell.

Start by checking out some schools from the State University of New York (SUNY) system. For instance, SUNY Buffalo State, SUNY Brockport, and SUNY Plattsburgh all feature fairly high acceptance rates.

City University of New York (CUNY) campuses, such as CUNY York College and CUNY Lehman College, also have relatively high acceptance rates and are located in various parts of New York City, giving you the opportunity to experience different neighborhoods.

Then there's St. John's University in Queens and Pace University with campuses in New York City and Westchester County, both of which have high acceptance rates.

Farther Upstate, you might want to look into Niagara University or St. Bonaventure University. Both are smaller, private schools with high acceptance rates.

Each school has its own unique environment and program offerings so be sure to research each one to see if it aligns with your academic interests and career goals. Also, always review the admissions requirements for each institution to ensure you're a good match. Good luck with your college search!
