What's the easiest way to fulfill upper division cluster courses at PSU?

Hey all, I recently got accepted to Portland State University (PSU) and I'm starting to plan out my coursework. Can anyone share the easiest 'upper division cluster' courses that will satisfy my degree requirement there?

Hello and congrats on your acceptance to Portland State University! Regarding the 'upper division cluster' courses, remember that "easy" can be subjective and largely dependent on your individual course interests and strengths.

That said, if you're looking for clusters that have a reputation for being more manageable in terms of workload, some students speak favorably about the 'Popular Culture' and 'Sustainability' clusters. These areas might be easier to grasp if you have an inclination towards societal trends or environmental science respectively, and they can also be quite engaging.

The 'Arts and Letters' cluster is another one that could be relatively easy as the coursework often revolves around literature, philosophy, and foreign languages, which are primarily reading and discussion-based classes.

However, please remember that choosing a cluster solely based on its perceived difficulty may not be the best strategy in the long run. Look for clusters related to your major or career interests, as they may end up benefiting you more, including an increased understanding of your field or providing useful knowledge for future job prospects.

Lastly, once you've narrowed down to a few potential clusters, check out the upper division classes under them and look into getting syllabi from past semesters. You can reach out to the department or the professors themselves for this information, which could give you a better idea of the workload and the class structure, further helping you decide.

Best of luck with the rest of your college planning at PSU!
