Community Colleges with Lenient Admission for Physics 2?

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about easing my course load during senior year and taking Physics 2 at a local community college. I've been hearing it's really challenging and I want to give it my entire focus without distractions from other classes. Can anyone recommend community colleges that are known for being relatively simple to get into for this class, hopefully somewhere local? I'm in the west coast if that helps. Thanks a ton!

Hello there! It's wonderful to hear that you're considering taking Physics 2 at a community college! Many community colleges are generally open-admission institutions, meaning they accept almost anyone who applies, so you should have a fair number of options. In most cases, you just need to complete a simple application, possibly placement tests, and enroll in the class you want if there's room.

State-specific community college systems could be a good place to start. On the west coast, you have systems like the California Community Colleges, Oregon Community Colleges, and Washington State Community and Technical Colleges. For example, within the California system, Santa Monica College and Pasadena City College have strong reputations.

Bear in mind though, the difficulty of the class may vary substantially based on the specific community college and professor. You may want to use websites like Rate My Professors to check students' experiences with the professors teaching Physics at the colleges you're considering.

Lastly, it's also important to check with your high school to make sure they'll accept the credit if you're planning to transfer it back. Good luck with your Physics 2 course, and feel free to ask if you have any other questions!
