Hey guys, any advice on the easiest food to make in college?

I'll be heading off to college soon and I gotta admit, my cooking skills aren't top-notch. I want to learn a few recipes before I leave. So, what are some easy meals I could practice making that would be suitable for dorm living?

It's excellent to see your proactive approach to learning cooking skills before heading off to college. Many students find themselves in a similar situation. Here are a few easy meals that I've seen many college students master:

1. Ramen: Starting with a staple, packaged ramen is a go-to for many students. It's quick, easy, and incredibly versatile. To elevate it, you can add an egg, some veg like bell peppers, or even some sliced chicken.

2. Scrambled Eggs: Scrambled eggs are filling, nutritious, and can be varied to include vegetables or cheese.

3. Pasta: Pasta is another versatile option. With a variety of sauces and the option to add vegetables or protein, there are endless possibilities.

4. Quesadillas: These can be as simple or fancy as you'd like. Just cheese and a tortilla is enough for a tasty quesadilla, but you can also add in fired bell peppers, onions, or chicken for more flavor.

5. Pre-made salad and rotisserie chicken: If your student store sells rotisserie chicken and pre-made salad, you can combine them for a more nutritious meal without the need for any actual cooking.

6. Microwave baking: Believe it or not, you can also prepare desserts in the microwave. Mug cakes are quite popular among students.

Remember, in a typical dorm setting, you'll be limited by the appliances you have access to. Most dorms will at least permit a microwave and mini-fridge, although others may allow for hot plates or toaster ovens.

That said, don't hesitate to get creative and experiment with different flavor combinations once you're comfortable with these basic recipes. It’s all part of the college experience! Have fun with it, and enjoy your culinary journey.
