Are there medical majors that are less demanding?

Hi guys, I know all medical-related majors come with a heavy workload, but I'm curious to know if there are any that are 'easier' than others. I'm passionate about helping people and exploring the field of medicine, but I also want to maintain a balanced life in college. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Sure, it's important to understand that "easier" is quite subjective and depends on both an individual's interests and strengths. However, there are certain health-related fields that may be less academically intense when compared to pre-med or biomedical engineering.

One such field is Public Health. This major focuses on the larger picture of healthcare, including disease prevention, community health education, and policy work. It often involves a lot of sociology and psychology in addition to biological science, so it's usually considered less "hardcore" in terms of workloads in comparison to other health-related majors but is still academically rigorous.

Health Sciences (sometimes called Allied Health Sciences) could also be a good choice. This broad field covers a variety of health-related topics and would give you an overview of many aspects of healthcare without being as intensely focused on the hard sciences as a pre-med or biology major.

Health Administration or Healthcare Management is another one where you can make a significant impact in the medical field without the heavy coursework related to biomedical sciences. This major focuses more on how healthcare systems and institutions are managed and operated.

Nutrition/Dietetics could also fit the bill. This field is scientific in nature but perhaps not as comprehensive in terms of biology and chemistry as something like pre-med or biochemistry.

Remember that it's your personal interest and career aspirations that truly matter. For instance, if you are interested in research, a ‘harder’ major like biochemistry might actually feel easier for you simply because you enjoy it. Explore what each major entails, and see which ones align with your future goals and current academic and personal interests. Your passion for the subject can often make a difficult major feel more manageable.
