Best Introductory Science Courses to Take for General Ed?

Hey community, I'm about to start my first year of college and was curious if anyone had recommendations on what the easiest science courses are that I could take to knock out my general education requirements? I'm not a science major, so my goal is to fulfill my credits without overloading myself. Any advice would be awesome!

Sure, I can certainly help with that! Different schools have different offerings, but here are a few science classes that are often recommended for non-science majors, to fulfill their general education requirements:

1. Intro to Astronomy: If your school offers it, this might be a great place to start. It's typically a fascinating course that provides an overview of our universe, planets, galaxies, and fundamental laws that govern space. It's generally considered an easier science class, but remember that 'easy' is a relative term and will depend on your comfort with science.

2. Environmental Science: This is another course that tends to be less heavy in terms of lab work and calculations. It's also relevant to contemporary issues, which makes the class engaging.

3. Nutrition: This course is often part of health science or kinesiology department. It's a course that's not only useful for fulfilling requirements but also for understanding healthy eating and lifestyle habits.

4. Geology: You'd study the Earth's structure, materials it's made of and processes that have shaped it over millions of years. It's often considered as one of the easier science courses as compared to, say, Physics or Chemistry due to a lower math requirement.

5. Anthropology: If natural science is really not your thing, an Introduction to Anthropology sometimes falls into the Science category, and it will give you insights into human evolution and diversity within human cultures.

Remember, it's always valuable to combine these recommendations with a bit of a check on the course instructor, as a good professor can make one course much easier to succeed in than another. Look for professor reviews or feedback from other students who’ve taken the course. Also, consider your personal interests. If you're into nature, botany might be unexpectedly enjoyable, for example. Good luck with your first semester!
