What are the mission and vision of different military branches?

To anyone who's knowledgeable about this, could you please share the mission and vision statements of different US military branches? As I'm planning my future post high-school, I'm interested in understanding more about what each branch stands for.

As someone familiar with key aspects of the different U.S. military branches, it's important to understand that each branch has its own distinct mission and vision. The mission and vision statements typically reflect the variety of roles and tasks that each branch handles.

1. U.S. Army: The mission of the U.S. Army is "to fight and win our nation’s wars, by providing prompt, sustained, land dominance, across the full range of military operations and the spectrum of conflict, in support of combatant commanders." Its vision is “to deploy, fight, and win our nation’s wars by providing ready, prompt, and sustained land dominance by Army forces."

2. U.S. Navy: The mission of the U.S. Navy is "to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas." The Navy doesn't have a widely published vision, but its core values are "Honor, Courage, and Commitment."

3. U.S. Air Force: The mission of the U.S. Air Force is "to fly, fight, and win in airspace and cyberspace." Its vision is “to deliver and sustain air and space superiority and cyberspace dominance.”

4. U.S. Marine Corps: The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps, according to the Department of Defense, is "to seize or defend advanced naval bases and conduct such land operations as may be essential to the prosecution of a naval campaign." Its vision statement is "to be the nation’s expeditionary force in readiness, responsibly deployed and employed, persistently engaged and postured forward as the nation’s force of choice.”

5. Coast Guard: The mission of the U.S. Coast Guard is "to ensure our Nation's maritime safety, security and stewardship." The vision is "to be the maritime leader in all the Nation’s maritime regions and serve as the standard by which other maritime forces gauge their performance."

6. Space Force: As the newest branch, the U.S. Space Force defines its mission as "to provide freedom of operation for the United States in, from, and to space" and its vision as "to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and provide space capabilities to the joint force."

Remember that these mission statements and visions could evolve as situations change and the Department of Defense updates its approach. However, these statements should give you a basic understanding of what each branch stands for. Each military branch has unique missions that contribute to the overall defense of the United States and protection of its interests, and it's essential to understand these key differences when considering a career in the military.
