A search for the military branch with the most rapid promotions?

I'm likely to join the military after I graduate, and I want to progress as fast as possible. Can anyone here share insights on which military branch should I join if getting promoted quickly is my priority? Any help is much appreciated!

Different branches of the military have different promotion rates due to a variety of factors, including the size of the service, the number of positions available at different ranks, and how long the typical career lasts.

Generally, the U.S. Army is known for promoting enlisted personnel and officers at a faster rate than the other branches largely due to its size. This doesn't necessarily mean that promotion is easier in the Army—it just means that there are more opportunities for promotion available. However, this can also mean stiffer competition. Merit-based promotions are not just about time in service or current rank but also about job performance and the fulfillment of certain required training courses.

The U.S. Air Force, by contrast, tends to promote more slowly. This has been attributed to longer technical schools and the fact that airmen typically spend more time at each rank.

The U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, and U.S. Coast Guard are about middle-of-the-road, with promotion rates that are typically between those of the Army and Air Force.

The U.S. Space Force, being a new branch of the military, does not have a well-established promotion timeline yet but it is expected to mirror the U.S. Air Force.

It's important to remember that promotions in the military also rely heavily on the specific career field you're in. Certain jobs may see promotions quicker due to high demand or low supply of personnel in that field. As such, it's worth researching the specific field you're interested in as well as the branch of service. Good luck with your future military service!
