AP Exam Difficulty?

Hey everyone, what does the College Board itself consider to be the hardest AP exam? I don't want to take an AP class, only to be blindsided by a super tough exam at the end. Looking for some wisdom from y'all who've been through it. Thanks a bunch!

Hello there! Based on official College Board data, the AP courses with the lowest exam pass rates (meaning the proportion of students scoring 3 or higher) are generally considered the most challenging. Historically, AP Physics 1, AP English Literature and Composition, and AP United States Government and Politics tend to have relatively low pass rates. Therefore, these might be viewed as the harder AP exams.

However, remember that 'difficulty' is quite subjective and depends on your skills and interests. If you have particular strengths in English, for example, you might find English Literature and Composition easier than a student who prefers Math or Science.

Also, keep in mind that taking an AP course is not just about doing well in exams. It's also an opportunity to dive deep into a subject you're interested in and show colleges your academic rigor and enthusiasm. So while it's absolutely okay to consider difficulty, also choose classes that align with your interests and academic goals.

Lastly, keep in touch with your teachers and ask for their opinion - they often know your strengths and can guide you in making a decision. They might also be able to give you some insight into the course content and how it is tested on the AP exam. Good luck!
