Forensic Science in the Military

Hi guys! So, I'm really into Forensic Science and I'm wondering if there's any specific Military branch that utilizes forensic Science more than the others? I'd love to combine my interest in the military and forensic science somehow.

Absolutely, there are indeed opportunities to pursue forensic science within the military!

Each branch of the military can have a need for forensic scientists, particularly when it comes to investigative units. However, the United States Army and Navy are generally known to extensively use forensic science.

The U.S. Army's Criminal Investigation Command employs special agents who utilize forensic science in solving crimes related to the Army. This could range from white-collar crime to more serious offenses. These special agents often work closely with forensic scientists to gain evidence from crime scenes.

Similarly, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) in the U.S. Navy also makes extensive use of forensic science. They have the Cyber Department and the Forensic Services and Biometrics Department which heavily relies on forensics.

However, remember that in any branch, you often won't immediately specialize. Generally, you'd first have broad training and service, and specialization like this comes later with experience, rank, and further training or education.

Also, consider that military life often involves additional duties and responsibilities that aren't directly related to your specialty. It's great that you have such a focused interest, but bear in mind that military service involves many facets and is a serious commitment!

Finally, ensure to reach out to a recruiter from the branches you are considering, to get the most accurate and up-to-date information about the opportunities available in forensic science.
