Insight needed on Gen Eds at Temple University

Hi everyone! I'm a junior planning on applying to Temple University and I'm trying to get a handle on their Gen Ed program. Anyone with insights on what the easiest Gen Eds are at Temple? Obviously, I'm committed to putting in all the necessary effort, but it would be nice to know how to balance my workload. Thanks!

Hey there! While I understand why you might be curious about taking the path of least resistance, it's important to remember that "easy" is fairly subjective and can heavily depend on individual interests and skills. That said, Temple's Gen Ed program is pretty flexible and accommodates a wide range of interests, so you'll likely find classes that align with your goals and abilities.

Temple's General Education (Gen Ed) program consists of two parts: the Foundations requirements and the Breadth requirements. The Foundations section contains coursework in areas like analytical reading & writing, science & technology (with a lab), human behavior, and quantitative literacy, to name a few. The Breadth requirements are a bit more focused, with classes in areas like the arts, race & diversity, and global/world society.

Choosing courses strategically can make a big difference in your overall workload. For instance, some students find that courses such as "The Environment" (under Science & Tech) or "The Creative Spirit" (under Arts) are manageable and engaging. Do some research and look at class descriptions to see what piques your interest.

Another approach is to look at classes that connect to your planned major or career path. These classes might not necessarily be easy, but they might feel more engaging or meaningful if they're directly related to your goals.

Also, don't shy away from challenging courses. They often provide the most enriching and rewarding experiences. Besides, universities and colleges see a robust course schedule as a positive when considering applications.

Hope this helps! Remember, every student's experience will be unique, so take some time to find what works best for you. Good luck with your application to Temple University!
