What are the basic requirements for each US military branch?

Hi there! I'm leaning towards joining the military after I graduate, but I'm still deciding which branch is the best fit for me. That being said, could anyone let me know the minimum requirements (physical, academic, etc.) for each branch of the US military?

The various branches of the U.S. military all have different standards, but they generally share some uniform requirements. Here's a brief overview:

1. U.S. Army: The Army requires that enlistees are between the ages of 17-35, have a high school diploma or GED, pass a physical test, and are U.S. citizens or green card holders. It's worth noting that to become an officer, you typically need a bachelor’s degree.

2. U.S. Navy: In the Navy, requirements include being between the ages of 17-39, having a high school diploma, passing a physical examination, and being a U.S. citizen or a Resident Alien.

3. U.S. Air Force: The Air Force requires enlistees to be aged 17-39, have a high school diploma, and pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test. Officers must be citizens, while enlisted members can be either citizens or Resident Aliens.

4. U.S. Marine Corps: The Marine Corps requires that you're aged 17-29, have at least a high school diploma, pass the ASVAB, and meet exacting physical standards.

5. Coast Guard: Enlistees must be between the ages of 17-31 (though waivers are sometimes available for those aged above 31), have a high school diploma, pass a military entrance medical exam, and be a U.S. citizen or a Resident Alien.

6. U.S. Space Force: Because the Space Force is part of the Department of the Air Force, it has similar requirements, including being between the ages 17-39, having a high school diploma, and passing the ASVAB test.

Please note that for all branches, the minimum requirements mentioned above apply for enlisted members. If you are interested in becoming an officer, requirements would be different. This usually involves earning a bachelor's degree at minimum and undergoing Officer Candidate School or equivalent officer training.

Lastly, remember that your health, criminal background, and even financial debt can impact your eligibility. Be sure to discuss your situation and options with a recruiter. They can provide guidance that's most relevant to your specific situation. Good luck in your future career in the military!
