China's Most Difficult University to Get Into

Hey friends, my family is originally from China and I've been considering studying there for university. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the most difficult university to get into in China is? I'd love to see how my stats match up.

It's generally agreed upon that Peking University and Tsinghua University are the two most prestigious and selective universities in China, often being compared to Harvard and Stanford in the United States.

Admission to these universities is extremely competitive, mainly through the gaokao, which is China's national college entrance examination. You have to score very high on the gaokao to even stand a chance at these schools. But aside from the gaokao, other factors like the student's school performance and interview also matter.

If you're an international applicant, the process does differ from that for domestic Chinese students. International students generally apply using their high school academic records and do not take the gaokao exam. Instead, they might take an entrance exam designed for international students and/or submit scores from standardized tests like the SAT or ACT. The standards can be supremely high for these international assessments as well, given the prestige of these institutions.

After you apply, these universities often offer interviews, which are crucial in the decision-making process.

However, the only true way to understand how your stats match up is to look at the universities' websites or contact their admissions offices for more specific details about international applicants. Good luck with your research!
