What are some less competitive art schools like CalArts?

I'm in awe of CalArts because of their reputation in animation and the arts. But Yikes, the admission stats are scaring me. Do any of you know of schools that are a tad less elite but still have strong programs in visual arts, especially animation?

Lastly, I’d suggest looking into Columbia College Chicago as it's known for its accessible approach to arts education, and their animation program receives good reviews from students and industry professionals alike.
