Anyone familiar with North Carolina A&T's application process?

Hey everyone, I've been doing some research and I've become really interested in North Carolina A&T. Is anyone familiar with their application process and has some advice for a prospective student?

North Carolina A&T State University has a fairly straightforward application process. After you apply online through the Common Application or the Coalition Application, here's how the process generally goes:

1. Academic Record - The first step towards applying to North Carolina A&T is to ensure your high school transcript is up to date and highlights your academic achievements. The university considers your GPA, the rigor of your coursework, and class rank (if available).

2. Test Scores - As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, North Carolina A&T is test-optional. This means that SAT or ACT scores are not a mandatory requirement, and you can choose whether or not to submit your scores as part of your application. Note that being test-optional doesn't mean tests are irrelevant; strong test scores can still bolster your application if you choose to submit them.

3. Extracurriculars - North Carolina A&T values students who take initiative outside the classroom as well. Highlight your involvement in extracurricular activities, whether that's a part-time job, leading a club, community service, or anything else.

4. Admission Essay - The university will want you to submit an essay. This is your chance to make your application stand out. Make sure to answer the prompt thoughtfully and in a way that illustrates who you are as a person and a student.

5. Letters of Recommendation - Lastly, letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or other relevant parties (like coaches or employers) give the admissions office a different perspective on your accomplishments and character. Make sure these individuals really know you and can speak to your strengths.

It's important to stay on top of deadlines when applying. Applications begin August 1, and the priority deadline for scholarship consideration is November 1. The regular deadline is February 1, but it's better to apply early!

Good luck with your application! Don't forget to put forth your best self in your essays and recommendations, and to keep track of all requirements and deadlines. Remember, you can reach out to the admissions office if you have further questions about their process.
