Strengths of Franklin and Marshall for Poli Sci?

Junior in HS starting to look at colleges and I'm pretty into politics and government. Franklin and Marshall caught my eye; they seem pretty strong in the liberal arts. Does anyone know how good their political science program is, and what they look for in prospective students? Do I need stellar debate achievements or is solid coursework with good grades enough?

Franklin & Marshall has a solid reputation for its government and political science department which is grounded in a liberal arts education, enabling students to gain a well-rounded perspective. It's not just about having stellar debate achievements, though being able to showcase your passion for politics—such as through Model UN, Youth in Government, or civic engagement projects—can certainly strengthen your application. Don't underestimate the importance of solid coursework and good grades though. They like to see you challenging yourself academically, particularly in areas related to your intended major, so AP or honors courses in history and government would be a plus if available at your school. Also, try to demonstrate your interest outside the classroom, perhaps by interning for a local political campaign or participating in community service related to political causes you care about. These experiences suggest to F&M that you're engaged and serious about your interest in political science. Highlight these aspects in your application to signal to admissions that you have both the skills and the drive to contribute to their political science program.
