What's the most challenging class for an HR manager in college?

Hello guys, I'm really interested in pursuing a career in human resource management and plan to major in it in college. I'm curious to know, what would you say is the most difficult class one might face as an HR manager in college? I'd really appreciate any insight into why it's challenging and what might help to prepare for it. Thanks heaps!

Well, the level of difficulty in a class can vary greatly from person to person, depending on your individual strengths, weaknesses, and interests. It's also worth noting that the curriculum can vary significantly from college to college.

However, if we talk in general, many students find "Organizational Behavior" to be challenging. This course typically involves understanding how people behave within organizations, touching on the fields of psychology and sociology. You'll encounter theories on motivation, leadership, team dynamics, and change management.

One of the reasons it can be challenging is that it combines two different fields – business and psychology. It requires you to understand individuals, groups, and structures within a workplace setting and then apply that knowledge to manage and lead an organization more effectively.

Another course that comes up often is "Employment Law". This is a key area in HR, and it's essential for HR professionals to ensure that company policies are legal and ethical. You'll need to learn about laws regarding discrimination, worker's safety, benefits, leave, and so on. It can be tough because, like all law courses, it involves significant memorization and understanding of complex legal concepts.

To prepare yourself, aim to hone and build up your analytical, problem-solving, and comprehension skills. As for "Employment Law", setting up study groups where you can discuss and understand complex laws could also be quite helpful. Reading up on real-world case studies where these HR concepts have been put into action could also provide a more practical understanding of these principles.

Remember, a challenging class also means a great learning opportunity! So, don't shy away from them. Best of luck with your studies!
