Do colleges accept a 900 SAT score?

I recently got my SAT results and I scored 900. Will this score limit my college options significantly? Do colleges accept this score?

Absolutely, there are colleges that accept SAT scores around 900. However, depending on the selectivity of the institutions you're applying to, this score could potentially limit some opportunities.

For example, most highly selective institutions have middle 50% score ranges well above a 900, so admission to these schools could be a long shot with that SAT score. On the other hand, many regional, less selective, and open admission institutions have average SAT scores that are closer - or even below - 900.

While your SAT score is a significant factor in the admissions decisions of many colleges, remember that it is just one part of a holistic application review process. Other aspects like your GPA, essays, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation play a significant role too. That being said, you could also consider taking the SAT again if you believe you've the potential to get a higher score after more preparation.

Remember, there are also plenty of test-optional colleges out there. Due to the move to online testing, several colleges have shifted their policies to be test-optional, which might be a good route for you to consider, especially if your other application elements are strong.

While it's important to put forth the best application possible, it's equally important that you find a school aligned with your academic interests, career aspirations, and personal needs.
