Where should I apply in Portland?

Hi! I want to go to college in Portland, but I'm not sure which universities are the best to consider. I'm open to all majors. Does anyone have any recommendations, experiences, or insight into the academic rigor and campus environment of colleges in Portland?

One of the more well-known universities in Portland is Portland State University. This large public university offers a range of majors and has a more urban campus experience, as it is integrated into the downtown area of the city. It offers a wide range of majors from business to arts and sciences, and it's known for its strong commitment to sustainability.

You might also consider Lewis & Clark College. As a small liberal arts college, it provides a more intimate academic setting compared to larger institutions. It features a strong liberal arts curriculum with a variety of majors in the arts and sciences, and has a picturesque campus nestled among the trees, just a few miles from downtown Portland. This school is known for its rich study abroad programs, its law school, and its undergrad focus on environmental and international issues.

Finally, Reed College, another liberal arts institution in the area, is known for its rigorous academic environment and its focus on humanities and sciences. It has an open curriculum that allows students flexibility in choosing their courses. The campus has a vibrant intellectual culture, and Reed houses an independent thenuclear research reactor operated entirely by undergraduate students, one of the many unique aspects of the school.

Each of these schools has a different vibe and academic focus, so I encourage you to do more research into each of them. Keep in mind what you want in terms of campus size, location, course offerings, resources, and community atmosphere. Check out each school's own net price calculators to get a sense of the possible financial aid packages as well. Good luck with your college search!
