Which is the hardest College Board practice test?

Hey everyone, I've been trying to improve my standardized testing skills for college apps next year. I've read that taking the hardest practice tests can really help build resilience and problem-solving skills. Does anyone know which College Board practice test is considered the toughest? Any info about the test's material and why it's considered the hardest would be super helpful. Thanks so much!

Responding as a private admissions counselor:

One thing I've noticed about the topic of "hardest" SAT practice test is that this varies greatly based on a student's comfort level with the sections and specific topics tested. Thus, it isn't quite accurate to definitively label one test as the hardest.

That being said, I've noted some students find Practice Test 8 to be particularly challenging. This test was released in 2017 and is one of the full-length practice exams provided by College Board. Specifically, where students appear to struggle most is in the Math section.

In this test, students have reported some of the algebraic manipulations and conceptual applications to be more complex than in other practice tests. Additionally, there are several challenging word problems in the Math section, which can be difficult if students are not used to translating a word problem into a solvable equation.

The Reading section can also be challenging to some as there are a few dense passages concerning scientific and historical subjects, coupled with some nuanced, detail-oriented questions.

However, don't be disheartened. Recognize that you'll have strengths and weaknesses, which may make certain tests or sections easier or harder for you compared to other students. Instead of trying to find and conquer the "toughest" test, focus on understanding where your own weaknesses lie and address those specifically. You'll find this to be a much more effective study strategy.
