Hey guys, I'm a junior and planning to major in computer science. I live in Illinois so I'm looking at schools here. Can anyone suggest the best Illinois universities for a comp sci major?

Sure, I'd be happy to suggest some universities in Illinois that have strong computer science programs!

At the top of the list is the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Their computer science department is consistently ranked among the best in the nation with a variety of specialization areas. The Grainger College of Engineering, where the computer science program is housed, offers vast research opportunities.

Next is Northwestern University, which offers a comprehensive computer science program in the McCormick School of Engineering. They provide a very interdisciplinary approach and the opportunity to take classes across other fields.

Additionally, the University of Chicago is another good choice, but their program is more theoretical, so it may be more suited for students interested in research or further academic pursuits in computer science.

The Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago also has a well-regarded computer science program. They emphasize experiential learning and have a co-op program where students can get real-world work experience before they graduate.

DePaul University in Chicago has a strong focus on applied computer science, with a lot of hand-on, project-based courses, and lots of opportunities for internships in the city.

Finally, Loyola University Chicago could be a good fit if you're looking for smaller class sizes. Their computer science program emphasizes ethical computing which could set you apart in your future career.

Each of these programs has its own strengths, so I'd suggest taking a look at each one to see which align the most with your academic and career goals. Good luck with your search!
