Which colleges in Portland, Oregon are best for engineer students?

Hey guys, Oregon resident here considering staying in-state for college. I'd prefer the Portland area specifically. Any thoughts or experiences with the engineering programs at colleges around there?

Hello! Staying in-state can have a lot of advantages, like being familiar with the area and possibly saving on tuition.

In the Portland, Oregon area you could look at Oregon State University's (OSU) School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Even though the main campus is in Corvallis, OSU has a campus in Portland as well. They offer multiple engineering programs, and the school is known for its strong emphasis on research, with opportunities for undergraduates to get involved.

Portland State University (PSU) also offers a comprehensive College of Engineering & Computer Science. PSU’s Maseeh College of Engineering & Computer Science is known for its ties to local industries and opportunities they offer for hands-on learning beyond the classroom, like internships, cooperative education, and capstones.

The University of Portland also has a School of Engineering. It is a smaller private college, offering a more intimate learning environment. It's well-known for its faculty engagement and provides a Bachelor of Science in several engineering disciplines including civil, electrical, mechanical and computer engineering.

It would help to know what type of engineering you're most interested in, but these schools should give you a starting point. Keep in mind that you should also consider other factors such as campus culture, cost, extracurricular interests, and the overall environment when choosing a school. Happy searching!
