Joining the Ground Forces: Which Branch?

Been thinking about a career on the ground in the military - not much interested in the air or at sea. Can anyone give me input on which branch of the military primarily stays on ground during their operations?

While all branches of the military have ground forces, the two branches you might want to consider would be the Army and the Marine Corps.

The Army, being the largest branch of the U.S. military, is primarily land-based. They are responsible for defending the country and its interests in large-scale ground combat. The Army has a very broad mission and numerous opportunities available in terms of occupational specialties, from infantry and cavalry to cyber command and the medical corps. The opportunities for post-enlistment careers are also quite broad, with many transferable skills and experiences to civilian life.

On the other hand, the Marine Corps is a component of the Department of the Navy. Their mission covers land, air, and sea but they are known for intense and rigorous ground operations. The Marines often work in smaller units and are typically the first on the ground in combat situations. They pride themselves on their discipline, ethos, and combat readiness.

When choosing a branch, consider the culture, training, mission, and opportunities each offers. You should also reach out to recruiters from each branch to have an informed discussion about your options, and even consider speaking with veterans or active-duty members to hear about their experiences.
