Guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: Which military branch is responsible?

I'm seriously impressed with the discipline shown by those guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I'm considering a military career, and I'd like to know which branch I should join if I aspire to that kind of duty.

The prestigious duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier falls to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, more commonly known as "The Old Guard." This regiment is part of the U.S. Army, making this branch the one responsible for this honor.

The soldiers who perform this solemn duty, known as Tomb Guards or Sentinels, go through intense training and follow a strict code of conduct. Any aspiring Tomb Guard must first qualify with high standards of physical fitness and deportment, and then complete an arduous training process, culminating in a comprehensive 100-question test on the Tomb and Arlington National Cemetery.

As you contemplate a military career and consider your aspirations, it's important to remember that this is a very specialized position within the Army and not every soldier will be chosen for this role. In other words, aspiring to be a Tomb Guard is a lofty and commendable goal, but it's worth researching other duties and roles within the military that could also provide a fulfilling career.
