What are some of the hardest subjects to study in university?

Hey everyone. I'm starting to think about majors and I'd like to challenge myself, but I also want to know what I'm up against. So, from your guys' experiences or knowledge, what are some university subjects that are notoriously difficult? Thanks!

Hey there! That’s an awesome mindset to have as you enter university. Just remember that difficulty often depends on a person's individual talents and interests. That said, there are several subjects generally considered demanding due to their heavy workload, complex topics, or high-level skills needed.

1. Engineering: Engineering programs often involve advanced mathematics and physics courses that most students find challenging. Also, the time-intensive project work and lab sessions add to the overall difficulty.

2. Physical Sciences: Programs such as Physics or Chemistry have complex theories and formulas, where understanding lab work and concepts can be challenging. These degrees require strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

3. Medical Sciences: Degrees in medicine or pre-med focus on a breadth of complex subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and more. They also involve long studying hours and detailed memorization.

4. Mathematics: This major is considered hard due to the abstract concepts and advanced mathematical theory. Rigorous problem-solving and proof-writing skills are also needed, making it a difficult major for many.

5. Computer Science: This subject is challenging due to its mix of theoretical and practical work. It includes complex coding, advanced mathematics, and problem-solving under tight constraints.

6. Law: The large volume of reading, as well as the need to understand and apply complex statutes and cases in a practical context, make law a challenging discipline.

Bear in mind, though, that personal interest in a subject area can make even the toughest major more approachable. Some might find a subject challenging, but your inherent curiosity and dedication could make conquering it a fulfilling experience. Good luck on your academic journey!
